Best Opener
So, I've been testing different decks while getting ready for the upcoming Kongai tournament and I wanted to get some other people's opinions on who the "best" openers are. Now obviously this will be a general list since there is no single best opener, but it will allow people to see who the strongest openers are so they can pick which one fits into their specific deck / play style the best.
Ambrosia Thorn
Pros:
I played Ambrosia years ago and wanted to try her out again. She has an insanely good lifesteal skill that, when combined with her decent defenses (albeit low hp), let's her tank a lot more damage than just her life total.
General's Insignia is such a good item on her since it's power is effectively doubled when used with her lifesteal skill, which you'll be using a lot. It also synergies well with her low damage spiked boots stun, which you'll be using in a lot of situations while you wait to gain energy back for her Vamp Kiss (lifesteal). Yes, you can use a Necronomic Tome instead, but the damage is much more varying and unstable.
The other awesome item on her is a Girdle of Iron Will. This makes her all but immune to any Popo matchup, and really helps her land her Vamp Kiss so her lifesteal isn't interrupted.
Her passive works wonders against many matchups.
Throw in the fact that she has a hits-fleeing opponents ability and this girl makes for a GREAT opener.
Cons:
What I don't like about Ambrosia though, is that her Vamp Kiss only has a 90% hit rate! : ( That feels much too low for her most frequently used skill. And it basically means there's a 10% chance that you're going to die. That being said, lifesteal is just too good to pass up...
Helene
Pros:
Very high HP and defenses make her a natural tank.
She's versatile since she can attack with all elemental types depending on her matchup.
Many people underestimate her Sword Slash ability. It should be her most frequently used skill and can restore energy.
Herbal remedy is insanely good on her.
Cons:
90% hit rate on her most damaging skill.
Mono-ranger.
Cornelius Constantine
Pros:
Pilebunker has a 25% chance of doing 70 damage.
Can reflect attacks slower than 5 speed at close range.
Has a spammable skill at "both" ranges, which is really key to his playstyle.
Good defenses.
Cons:
90% hit rate on Pilebunker.
Voidstream is fairly weak as his only long range attack.
His passive is pretty lack luster.
Lower hp than other tanks.
Who do you like as an opener?

Kongai Tournament for August 13th, 2016
There will be a Kongai tournament on August 13th, 2016 at 12pm (noon) EST. Come participate in the fun!
Tournament players will have their names pooled together and drawn randomly to decide who they'll face first. This will be a bracket style tournament where players work thier way to the finals for a head-on match!
There's no need to pre-register for the tournament, simply show up on tournament day to compete. However, if you could please just leave a comment below this post so I can get an estimate of how many people are interested that would be fantastic! Also, if you're a fellow Kongai lover, please help spread the word!
I'm inviting YOU to come play Kongai!
Kongai is an epic flash game released on Kongregate.com in 2008 that really made an impression on me and thousands of other players! Sadly, once Gamestop bought out Kongregate.com the site no longer ran events to let you win Kongai cards and the game started to see less and less ,gameplay.
While Kongai may have slowed down, it's not dead! Kongai will always live on as long as one person has interest in it. I started this site so that fellow Kongai lovers can play in Kongai tournaments once again, helping bring a larger player base back to the game.
"What's in it for me", you ask? Well, there are no cash prizes (at this time) if that's what you're looking for, but it is FUN! So while you may not win cash, you CAN have a lot of fun playing this epic rock/paper/scissors strategy game with your friends! If you're already a Kongai lover then please help spread the word!
You can learn more about Kongai from David Sirlin's site, since he created the game. Check it out here!
